Price

$7.99

Guppy Grass is a fast-growing, adaptable aquatic plant loved by hobbyists for its versatility and ease of care. Native to North and Central America, it features thin, delicate stems lined with slender, bright green leaves. Its dense, bushy growth provides excellent hiding spots for fry, shrimp, and small fish, making it especially popular in breeding and community tanks.

Guppy Grass can be left floating or planted in substrate, adapting easily to a wide range of water conditions. It helps improve tank health by absorbing excess nutrients, reducing algae, and oxygenating the water naturally.

Care Instructions:

Lighting:

  • Low to high light. It will grow in low light but becomes much denser and fuller under moderate to high lighting.

Water Conditions:

  • Temperature: 68–82°F (20–28°C)
  • pH: 6.0–8.0
  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water

Substrate:

  • Optional. Guppy Grass can be planted directly into the substrate or left floating at the surface. Both methods are effective.
  • CO₂ and Fertilization:
  • Not necessary. However, in higher light setups, occasional liquid fertilization can boost growth.

Growth and Propagation:

  • Extremely fast-growing! It easily propagates by cutting and replanting/breaking off stems. A single bunch can quickly fill a tank if left unchecked.

Maintenance:

  • Trim as needed to control its spread and prevent overcrowding.
  • Remove excess growth during water changes to keep the tank balanced.
  • Can become tangled if not managed, so regular thinning is recommended.

Quick Tips:

  • Perfect for breeding tanks — fry love to hide in the thick, bushy leaves.
  • Helps maintain water quality by absorbing nitrates and other waste.
  • Very adaptable — great for beginners and seasoned aquarists alike!
